Now in its 9 th year, the essay competition, targeted at senior secondary school students in Nigeria is organised annually, as part of UBA Foundation’s education initiative which is aimed at promoting the reading culture and encouraging healthy and intellectual competition amongst secondary school students in Nigeria and across Africa.

UBA Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, is pleased to announce the 2019 edition of its annual National Essay Competition in Nigeria. Application Deadline: November 1st 2013. Students in secondary schools across Nigeria have been invited to submit entries in the 2013 UBA Foundation National Essay Competition. THE entries for the 16th Mike Okonkwo National Essay Competition for Secondary School Students in Nigeria is now open from March 18th to June7th, 2019.

A student of Grandmates Schools in Isolo, Lagos, Adesewa Adeniyi, has won the first prize at the Nigerian Stock Exchange 2019 Essay Competition for Senior Secondary School students.

The Delegation of the European Union to Nigeria and ECOWAS in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education and Daily Trust are organising an Essay Competition on Gender Equality. The competition is part of the European Union Gender Action. The objective of the competition is to stimulate children's awareness of the role of women in society.
